Biker Bob's Backyard Barbeque Was a Blast!

"Twenty-five VMU Mustangs attracted hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts' attention throughout the day on Saturday, August 18th during Shenandoah Harley-Davidson's annual BBQ themed event. The rationale for the VMU display was reflected in the fact that the headline band for the event was a seven-girl group from Nashville named "Mustang Sally".

The weather for the day was spectacular as our 25-Mustang caravan departed following our monthly meeting at Paul Obaugh Ford. Dale King's white '04 Cobra convertible lead the parade.

After all our cars were in place and "primped", members enjoyed all the festivities associated with the event…several choices of barbeque, grilled sausage /peppers /onions, funnel cake, a Staunton Boxing Club exhibition, motorcycle washing station (you had to see it to understand), and performances by two bands.

Most, if not all, of the event attendees walked through our Mustang display. Many lingered near and admired their favorite models and visited with our members about their fond memories of Mustangs past in their lives.

At 5 pm came the "main event". When, at about 30 minutes into their 2-hour performance, Mustang Sally struck the opening chords and lyrics of "Mustang Sally", the crowd went wild…with our members leading the enthusiasm. It was amazing to see that essentially all of the crowd knew the words and was singing along. It made me proud to be a Mustang owner..."
